What terms did you try when SEARCHING for a solution: Database connection failed

I have seen a number of posts regarding this but none seems to have reached a resolution.
The installer keeps saying the database connection failed.
It shows the correct database and user, but the error persists even after changing the password several times.

I tried a test file that another user on this forum was given and it shows:

A: Test 123 Test
B: Test ??? Test

What exact error message does the installer give?

I just tried again now to get the exact error message and it installed!
