Setting Defaults

Is there any way to set any of the 'Show Ticket' options as a default setting? Like I only want to view tickets from a particular category, but everytime I close a ticket, I have to scroll down and select that category all over again. Is there any way I can set it to always show a particular category or sort by a particular field, etc? Also, is it possible to do it by user? As some users won't have access to a particular category I might want to see.
