Customer login system and ticket panel

Post by Spyze »

Hello, I would like to ask if it's possible to enable in Hesk some customer ticket panel and login system that client would not have to check every single ticket with ticket ID but he will have all tickets in one place. Just simple login, password and tickets list - that's all. Is it available now, or maybe will it be added in the future? Regards.

Unfortunately, Hesk doesn't have client login. This is by design; not having customer login was one of the design goals because people are fed up with having to register at every website they visit.

We may add customer accounts in the future (as an on/off feature), but can't really say when.

Oh okay, I understand. In my opinion customer panel would be much easier to organize and easier for client to use. For example if I'm making and managing websites and my clients has a lot of problems they can check all tickets, replies and statuses in one place and they don't need to check every ticket ID one by one. Also currently everyone can create a ticket and spam my Hesk website, but what if I want to allow only registered clients to create tickets? And of course only I can register new accounts, client can't go to website and make it by himself.

At this moment I think Hesk is only for small businesses with small clients, who don't have many problems and would not create many tickets.

Hi, new to Hesk and been working on my install of it for a week or two now. Only issue I've run into is with management who've requested a login portal for all users to be able to log into and view the Knowledge Base and make tickets. (It's one of those "extra" security things they really want due to them being a certain type of company.) I had no luck with this at all.

If this was to be implemented soon that'd be great, but I'd also have few suggestions for it, if it were to ever be implemented;

1. Have an option that only registered users can create tickets.
~This is probably the most obviously suggested idea. But it'd also help if the tickets were linked to the account and all they had to do was login to view all tickets they've opened (But not delete any for purposes of record keeping)

2. Have an option for only registered users to see the knowledge base.
~We currently cannot upload any information or articles to our knowledge base because we don't want to throw up sensitive information online for the system I give support for.

3. Possibility for a Single Sign-on login option?
~Most companies use SSO now and this could be implemented into both the Admin and Client side? Since you have to create an admin account to start with you could have the option to invite other people to the system using Email and SSO? (Just an idea)

I would seriously try implementing my own client login but I have no clue where to go with that one. And I'd rather not break it by poking and prodding it even though I have a back up of it.

Hi,

There has been a lot of debate about a login system in the past (and some upset users because it hasn't been added  ).

The Hesk philosophy was specifically NOT to use customer logins. However, we are exploring options to add such a system in the future as an optional setting, as many users have requested it.

No promises and dates though as we are working on many other features as well.

Hi,

Many of my clients request the features described here. For me it would be a very well received functionality, I hope it will be a reality soon.

Greetings.

Just putting my grain of sand on the pile.

But as many have mentioned, a login system would be amazing to have. Or just a password I can set to the ticket system, just one more field in the ticket creation page where users have to submit a "Challenge password" to be able to create a ticket. I don't really care about user accounts, all I really want is to make sure that random people from around the internet can't create random support tickets on the page, since I have many users that are not on premises, I can't set up a local-only install, it has to be accessible from the internet.

I also have the same problem as another user, where my Knowledge Base articles have to be super vague and non specific because it can be accessed by anyone, and publicly posting specific steps and guide to some of our processes isn't very secure.

We understand that the initiative behind HESK is a open, login-less system, but I feel like a toggle option for "Require user login" should be available. :D

It's coming. Almost there. Need a bit of review and testing, then it should be available at least as a beta first.

Fantastic!
I was waiting for this news.
I have to start a new business soon and would like to use your product.
The only thing stopping me from purchasing is the lack of customer login.
If it is implemented I am ready to purchase a license.
Do you know more or less do you have a release date?
To organize myself.

Thank you and congratulations for your work.

One workaround I found for this is to just set up htacess on the server level for the self hosted users. It's not the cleanerst or the best way of doing it but it at least keeps your knowledge base away from public view.
It's a solution, ar least for the time being while we wait for a proper user login system.

I don't have a release date yet. We are discovering and fixing problems as we test and finalize it.

I hate giving any predictions as I've been wrong too many times in the past

Hi Klemen,
How is the work progressing? :)

In the meantime, for those who want to prevent access to strangers, I found a php script that allows you to enter a username and password before accessing the help desk.

I recommend setting up an httacess password for the Hesk directory. It's way easier and more secure to do it like that than to run random php code on your servers.
