I accidently stumbled across the new version so I thought why not.

In my case, I have HEAVILY modified the old code to suit my needs - while the box standard worked well... I needed to add various sections in the admin query, for instance, to put custom SQL queries in there

Search functionality was modified to search on custom fields

The list goes on!

Downside is I assume the upgrade to 2.0 will probably not work as well

So this was my plan:

1. Backup existing setup
2. Install fresh install and set it out like the old one (customised)
3. Test
4. Once happy, Try an upgrade to a new test site
5. Test and fix problems - if too many, ditch the install and go with install 1
6. If point 5 has failed, custom SQL query to bring in the old database into the new.


So far, I am at point 4 and will perform an upgrade tomorrow. I may ditch this before starting however because deep down, I feel it will fail and will not be worth the hassle - I knew what I was getting into when making the changes so I dont mind!

Instead, I will work on extracting the old DB and importing into the new...if this works fine, I will be very happy.

So to conclude this, if Kleman or anyone here has a query already made up so all I need to is change any field names, please do post - just saves me a bit of time.

I know I will need to change fields because where inthe old one my custom 1 field was X... in the new one, Custom 1 is Y and Custom 2 is X etc

Oh also, if I do NOT upgrade and start afresh, can I use the old licence I bought in the new one or does this only work in an upgrade?

just to quickly answer one of your questions (I asked the same one)

The license will work for the new version, as long as you keep the file on the server when uploading the new files.

Dan already answered one question, for the other: the old (original) database is easily upgraded to version 2.0 (instructions in the readme file) with all the settings (including custom fields) being preserved. However if you made any custom changes to the database structure you'll have to come up with new queries yourself.
