Could not start TLS connection encryption protocol

Hello,
I am using Version of script: 3.1.2 , as for the rest of requested info those are not really safe to post on indexable pages.

I already tried and read similar error message posts on this forum, no solution.
This error suddenly appeared out of nowhere, HESK was running correctly without any error for a long time.
Since 2 days we see this error: "Could not start TLS connection encryption protocol" when doing the smtp test in settings menu.

Nothing has changed on the hosting account where HESK is hosted. We use an smtp sender software Mail-in-a-Box on another VPS.
So HESK connects from the first shared hosting account to our own VPS with smtp sender software which sends the actual emails.
Nothing has been changed on this VPS also.
This smtp sender software Mail-in-a-Box is also used by other software that we use like Dadamail to send emails and that still works fine, no error.

However this error only happens with HESK when trying to send any email for example when updating a ticket.

Well, nothing changed in your Hesk code so something *must* have changed on the server side. Maybe a yum update did changes to OpenSSL, TLS settings on the shared hosting server changed, PHP version changed, ... something did change if it worked and suddenly stopped working.

My first recommendation would be to update your Hesk to the latest version. A lot has changed since 3.1.2 on the back-end, along with compatibility changes.

I can't be of much help unless you have the latest Hesk version and I see your PHP version and output of phpinfo.

Thank you for the reply. We will first upgrade to the latest version of HESK, and test again.
Than we will respond back with the results.

As promised I am reporting back with the outcome. So we upgraded HESK to the latest version.......and voila.....problem solved.
It is working again, a bit weird though, but anyway at least it's working.
Will make sure I will keep it more regularly up to date from now on!
