Hesk upgrade messed up my customer field

Post by tigertron007 »

I thought it was a good idea to upgrade from Hesk 3.46 to 3.53. Instead, it did some kind of migration and my customer names aren't coming out right. It's like they're drawing from a separate list.

Hesk 3.5.x introduced customer accounts which indeed changed the behaviour, hence the "A lot has changed in Hesk 3.5.x underlying logic compared to previous Hesk versions. Please test version 3.5.x first to ensure it works well for you before applying it to a live help desk." warning on the update page.

The main novelty is that Hesk has been re-written to use customer accounts. On the outside they can be disabled, but on the inside Hesk still uses them.

What this means is that:

a) all existing tickets with the same email address will be tied to a single customer account

b) because of the above, all tickets with the same email address will show the same customer name, regardless of the name that was entered when submitting the ticket

If this new behavior doesn't work for you, I would recommend using your 3.4.6 backup to roll back the changes.
